How to Root Lava Iris 501 on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean
This new method will help you to root Lava Iris 501 running on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.
The Lava Iris 501 packs 1 GHz dual core processor, 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash, 0.3 megapixel secondary camera, 5 inch WVGA resolution display and dual SIM support.
Instructions:
- It is advisable that you charge Lava Iris 501 to at least 75% before starting the rooting procedure.
- Rooting voids warranty. In simple language, if your device is in warranty period and if you’re keen in rooting it, the warranty cover would vanish.
- Please enable USB debugging by going into the settings > developer options > check – USB debugging.
- Please use these backup apps from Google Play Store to take the full backup important files, SMS and contacts.

Steps to Root Lava Iris 501 on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean:
- In order to root Lava Iris 501, we first need to install custom CWM recovery.
- First, download all the files from above section and install MediaTek drivers.
- Turn off your device and make sure it is not connected to the computer.
- Create a new folder anywhere on your PC and name it – Recovery
- Copy and paste the scatter file and recovery file in this newly created folder.
- You’ll need to rename the recovery file. It would most probably be having a name – recovery_cwm_6.0.1.5_iris.img. Just replace the name with “recovery.img”.
- Now, fire up the SP flash Tool.
- Click on the scatter loading button and navigate to the recovery folder to choose scatter file.
- This will check the recovery file option in SP flash tool.
- Please click on the download button.
- You’ll see a warning message stating that – “Not ALL images are correctly loaded, which may cause boot up issue! Do you still want to go on downloading anyway?”
- Press yes to continue anyway.
- Remove the battery from your phone but don’t turn the device on.
- Connect it to the computer using USB cable.
- This will begin the process of flashing CWM recovery on your Lava Iris 501.
- Now, disconnect the device from PC and turn it on.
- Now, we will proceed to root this mighty device.
- We hope you’ve downloaded these two files. Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip and su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip.
- Move these two files in SD card of your phone.
- Reboot your device in CWM recovery mode.
- Select the option called – Install zip from SD card and select Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip first.
- Make sure you’re not restarting your phone now.
- You now need to install the second zip from SD card – i.e., su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip.
- Now, you can reboot your device.
- The first boot might just take 5-6 minutes for first screen to appear. So, don’t panic and enjoy.
